A driver has died after a runaway trailer hit his car, causing him to run off the road and into trees in Melbourne's south-east.
Police said a trailer was being towed north along Belgrave-Hallam Road at Narre Warren East when it became detached from the car and collided with a car travelling south about 3pm (AEST).
A police spokesman said the male driver, aged in his 20s, died when his car ran off the road and crashed into trees.
The driver of the second car suffered minor injuries.
The man's death brings the Victorian road toll to 207, compared to 208 at the same time last year.
